Note that for Regular Season, the goal is to have morning workouts be the main focus. We understand that there are time conflicts that make the afternoons the best option for some families, so we will also run a main workout in the afternoon. In addition, we will run technique-focused workouts in the afternoon. For 8 and unders, there will only be main workouts, regardless of morning or afternoon practice. For differences between green group and blue group, and information about dryland please see notes below.

Dryland
with Instructor James Hargrove
Dryland is a very important component of swimming. At Boar's Head, we are lucky to have Instructor James Hargrove, who has lead the program since 2011. Dryland consists of various exercises and stretches that are valuable to swimmers both in and out of the water. 13 and overs will have dryland in their practices a few times per week. Swimmers only need a pair of tennis shoes to participate.
If in-pool practice has been delayed, there will be a small dryland session while the storm passes. Dryland is only cancelled when lightning has been spotted.

Green v.s. Blue Group
The 8 and under age group is split into two groups: the green group and the blue group. The difference in the groups is based on comfort in the water and swimming ability. The green group’s main focus is to get swimmers to be more comfortable in the water, as well as building their fundamental skills like floating, kicking, and body position. Additionally, the green group will be introduced to freestyle and backstroke. The blue group is for swimmers who show proficiency in their cornerstone skills and are capable of completing full laps of flutter kick, freestyle, and backstroke. The blue group will work to improve on the swimmer's cornerstone skills, kicking, freestyle, and backstroke while introducing flip turns, starts, breaststroke, and butterfly.
